An immersive experience in the Poughkeepsie Cistern featuring the local choir of Beulah Baptist Church.
For the first time since it was drained in 2021, the Cistern will host a performance from a Poughkeepsie-based organization. The Praise Team of Beulah Baptist Church, led by Reverend T. Motley-Epps on keyboard, will bring gospel music to the Poughkeepsie Cistern to truly complement the ethereal feeling of the space. The unique structure of the Cistern creates an incredible 14-second-long echo, similar to how sounds travel in a large cathedral. This extremely long reverberation means that the vocalists can create chords with their own voices, filling the dark space with angelic harmonies.
Join us this August for a rapturous vocal experience unlike any you have heard before. Featuring the Praise Team of Beulah Baptist Church and Reverend T. Motley-Epps, this event will immerse listeners in worshipful voices, organ sounds, and the light artistry of Samuel Stubblefield and Ethan Rainbolt.
